The Cinderella Project of Baton Rouge is a YWCA Greater Baton Rouge program, run in partnership with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Metro Baton Rouge chapter and founded in 2008. It collects donated prom dresses, jewelry, shoes, and makeup and gives them free to local teens at a spring pickup event; a recent event was held in late April at the YWCA on North Boulevard. The project has distributed more than 4,300 dresses across 18 parishes. Donations are gathered through a seasonal drive ahead of the event.
