About TuTu Good
TuTu Good is a free directory of programs across the United States that collect donated costumes and get them to kids who need them — dance costumes, Halloween costumes, dress-up clothes, theater wardrobes, and formalwear for prom and homecoming.
How this started
TuTu Good began as a middle school service project, sparked by a simple question: where do you donate outgrown dance costumes? Nobody had a good answer. Costume donation programs exist all over the country — Halloween costume drives, dance costume recyclers, theater costume warehouses, prom dress closets — but there was no single place to find them. No search, no map, no directory. Donors couldn't find where to give, and programs couldn't reach donors beyond their own neighborhoods.
So we built one. Today the directory lists 99 programs, each one researched and reviewed before it's published.
What belongs in the directory
Donated inventory only. Every program listed collects costumes and distributes them free or near-free. We don't list retail shops or rental businesses — if it isn't a donation program, it doesn't belong here.
How listings are verified
Every listing carries one of three verification tiers:
- Verified — we confirmed the program directly with its own published materials and public nonprofit records (such as IRS records via ProPublica).
- Confirmed — the program's existence and donation process are confirmed by multiple independent sources.
- Community-reported — reported by community members or local news, but not yet independently confirmed. We flag any caveats (seasonal operation, Facebook-only presence, missing address) right on the listing.
Each listing shows when it was last reviewed. Programs change — hours shift, drives end, organizations wind down — so please confirm details with the program before making a trip.
How the site is funded
TuTu Good is free for donors and free for the programs listed. We may show ads to cover hosting and upkeep. Programs never pay to be listed, and placement is never sold.
